WIOA ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

The Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) is effective through 2020. Its purpose is to provide access to training and employment services for a range of workers, including low-income adults and dislocated workers. To qualify, you…

  • Must have been laid off from employment or be scheduled for layoff
             OR be receiving food stamps
             OR be a displaced homemaker*
             OR be formerly self-employed, now unemployed due to economic conditions or natural disaster
  • Must be willing to cooperate with employment placement and tracking activities
  • Must register with the Selective Service, if applicable.

* A Displaced Homemaker is defined as an individual who has been providing unpaid services to family member(s) in the home and who has been dependent on the income of another family member but is no longer supported by that income AND is unemployed or underemployed and is having trouble obtaining or upgrading employment.

APPLYING FOR WIOA:

You must apply with a WIOA provider that serves the county in which you reside OR the county where the workplace from which you were laid off is located. Different counties and providers may have different rules, policies, procedures, and funding availability. CPR with Mickey works with the North Georgia Regional Commission which serves Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Pickens, Paulding, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield Counties. Below are the WIOA providers, find the one closest to you:

On the right side of the page at the bottom, under Find Us, select One Stop Centers. Select your county for the location of your WIOA provider. Note: They may not cover CPR with Mickey programs, but they can help find a program close to you.

The WIOA application process may include the collection and review of your eligibility documents, taking basic math and reading tests, taking an occupational interest and aptitude survey, and attending a program orientation. Some programs may have additional requirements. They will not approve payment for courses already in progress.
